Procedure for Issuing STRA, Verification and Validation Will Be Conducted
- On 12/08/2021
The procedure for issuing the Architect Registration Certificate (STRA) must be understood in order to align the architect registration process.
This is in accordance with the provisions of Article 31 of Government Regulation No. 15/2021 concerning the Implementation of Law No. 6/2017 concerning Architects and the Regulation of the Indonesian Architects Association No. 2/2021 concerning the Architect Registration Certificate (STRA).
This is based on the Decree regarding the procedure for issuing the Architect Registration Certificate (STRA), namely Law Number 6 of 2017 concerning Architects (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2017 Number 179, Supplement to the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6108), Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Year 2020 Number 245, Supplement to the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6573), Government Regulation No. 15 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Law Number 6 of 2017 concerning Architects, Regulation of the Indonesian Architects Association No. 2 of 2021 concerning the Architect Registration Certificate (STRA).
Thus, the General Provisions of STRA stipulate that the validity period of STRA is only for five years and can be extended by re-registration for the next five years. Applications are subject to registration fees with categories of STRA issuance processes consisting of new issuance and extension.
For new issuance, there are two options for the mechanism of new STRA issuance. First, the professional education mechanism, with stages including completing a minimum two-year internship, having completed professional education with a diploma or certification from AIA, passing the competency test, and submitting an application to the Board for STRA.
Second, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which requires a minimum of 10 years of practical work experience as an architect, passing the competency test, submitting an application through the Board's STRA Application, and undergoing data verification and validation. The STRA should be valid at least 4 months before its expiration; if less than the specified time, reactivation will be counted. For extension, applicants must submit an application through the Board's STRA Application, and the data will be verified and validated
